Darrell:
Just to update you I bought a second hand bike last week - 1983 Suzuki GS 550 L - very good shape and it fits me to a T. I need to get the carbs cleaned but other than that she is a good starter bike. I have got my beginners and I have been out for a few spins around Pasadena and Humber Valley/Marble Mountain Area. I am getting more a more used to it - haven't dropped her yet!!!. Attached is a couple snaps of my bike that I took when I went to look at it, if you want to add my bike to your website be my guest.
I thought I would relate something that my riding buddy told me. He wondered why I touched my rear brake two or three times before coming to a stop, because according to him I did not really need to start braking so soon. I explained to him why - that you guys taught us to do so to let him and whoever else is behind me know that I am going to stop. It works just as you said!!!
Thanks for the patience during the course and I have let anyone who has told me that they are thinking about learning how to drive a motorcycle to first call you guys and see if they can get in a course.

Hi Darrell,
I had been meaning to email you with an update.
First of all, I've stopped keeping my fingers over the levers :-) Actually I had no trouble with that after the Gander course.
Here's the neat feedback ... I was riding through Botwood last week when the engine started sputtering a bit. Anyways, because I had continued the start up routine of looking forward while finding and turning the fuel valve etc, I was able to successfully switch to reserve without stalling or stopping ... which was a relief since there was a furniture delivery truck on my tail.
The course taught me to ride and ride safely, but sometimes those little tips can really pay off ... so thanks!
On a sidenote, I had my first encounter with a bike hating dog yesterday ... had to slow down due to other hazards, allowing him to get close and had to move my right foot up out of the way before accelerating away from it. Good thing I'm a dog lover.
I'll attach a pic of my bike. It's a 1983 Honda Ascot VT500 in awesome shape. I'm so pleased it might not just be my "learner" bike, but also a keeper. I've put about 500kms on it so far and once it started to feel "natural," I really began enjoying it. In fact I think I'll take the afternoon off and go for a ride.
Thanks again to you all, and in particular Graham for the kind of patience I wish I had.
